Organizational Description: Established in 1992, the Hispanic Services Council (HSC) mission is to increase access and opportunities for Latinos and influence the systems that serve them. HSC is a private, nonprofit organization whose work focuses on developing opportunities that result in an educated, healthy, prosperous, and engaged Latino community. To achieve our mission and purpose, our programs focus on increasing the academic performance of Latino children through parental involvement, improving healthy living, and eating behaviors, and improving the quality of life through civic engagement of Latinos at all levels in our community.

Job Description:

Under the supervision of La red Program Director, the (VRL) is Primarily Responsible of recruiting Volunteers to and develop activities to support the educational goals of HSC participants. The VRL will seek and maintain relationships with schools, universities, and other entities that can provide volunteers and/or resources to support HSC programs. Coordinate and implement the Middle School Mentorship program and Responsible of the volunteer hub online service. Responsible for conducting introductory volunteer training; and interviewing individual candidates to match interest with assignment in each of the communities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Outreach and recruit at least 35 volunteers to help with all the educational activities for children and young people.

2. The VRL will seek and maintain relationships with schools, universities, and other entities that can provide volunteers and/or resources to support HSC programs.

3. Train volunteers in HSC's goals and principles so that they have meaningful experience in their work and continue to support the programs.

4. Organize a volunteer appreciation day.

5. Implement two Mentorship cohorts a year with at least 20 middle school children.

6. Collect and maintain participant and volunteer data: Using Data System, Attendance logs, files, in perfect order and confidentiality.

7. Monitor database performance and interpret raw data and turn it into actionable feedback. (participant satisfaction surveys, participant opinions and suggestions, etc.).

8. Use materials provided for all activities in perfect order.

9. Write a quarterly report based on information needs and meet deadlines.

10. Attend the monthly La Red staff meeting, and HSC meetings as assigned.

11. Attending outside meetings, training, and conferences assigned.

12. May serve on internal and external committees as assigned.

13. Perform all duties and activities within the guidelines established by the mission, vision, goals and policies of HSC.

14. Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Professional Education, Desired knowledge, skills, and experience

● Associate degree or equivalent and 2 or more years of working experience with communities in need.

● Strong Verbal communication skills Bilingual in Spanish and English Preferred (verbal and written), strong public speaking and presentation skills.

● Strong Problem-solving skills

● Data analysis skills

● Computer proficiency and knowledge of how to use MS office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Able to quickly learn how to use video-conferencing platforms such as Zoom and MS Teams.

● Comfortable working with diverse populations and in diverse settings (virtual, in-person, churches, homeless, community organizations, inside and outside locations, etc.).

● Ability to relate to people regardless of age, background, culture, education, experience, and/or language.

● Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

● Self-motivated with an ability to work in teams as well as work independently with minimal supervisory direction to accomplish established goals.

● Have reliable transportation, driver’s license, and auto insurance

● Flexibility in work schedule and programmatic requirements. Available to work some evenings and some weekends

● Ability to organize information, events, schedule, and program activities.

● Pass level 2 background check.

● Able to lift 25-pound (12kg) boxes and transport them to various locations.

This position is grant funded and hours may be reduced or eliminated based on funding sources.
