Hispanics & The Affordable Care Act
In 2013, Hispanic Services Council, as a partner with The Family Healthcare Foundation, received funding from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to provide outreach and health insurance enrollment services under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). HSC’s certified navigator assists health care consumers in learning about the new Marketplace coverage opportunities as well as enrolling individuals in health care coverage.
As part of HSC’s ongoing commitment to improve its delivery of service, and with funding from Community Catalyst, HSC carried out a study to assess and analyze challenges, best practices, and opportunities for the Tampa Bay area community based organizations to increase outreach to and enrollment among Latino and immigrant populations during the second enrollment period.
The findings and resources below offer a foundation for other organizations to study and build upon in ensuring all populations in our community have access to proper health coverage.
